Tuesday, January 14th marked a significant milestone for Diamond Nation Academy (DNA) as we welcomed renowned Belizean black belt, Aaron Smith from Proving Grounds Jiu-Jitsu, for the first Jiu-Jitsu Seminar of 2025. This exciting event, exclusively for DNA members, was made possible by our valued partnership with Proving Grounds Jiu-Jitsu, who generously sponsor our kids’ Jiu-Jitsu program and our female self-defense class (ages 13 and up).
The seminar delved deep into the core of Jiu-Jitsu, focusing on the critical aspects of guard passing and retention. Coach Smith, is a highly skilled instructor who expertly guided students through advanced techniques, ensuring everyone, from beginners to seasoned practitioners, gained valuable insights and improved their game.
The energy in the room was electric as students absorbed Coach Smith’s expert instruction. Following the seminar, the excitement continued with an open mat session, providing opportunity for students to practice the newly learned techniques and refine their skills.
The open mat was scheduled from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, students rolling and drilling well beyond the scheduled time, with many staying until 9:30 PM. Aaron generously rolled with every student who wanted to, providing valuable feedback, assisting with techniques, and answering any questions raised.
The impressive turnout of over 30 students at the open mat showcased the growing interest and engagement in Jiu-Jitsu at DNA, thanks in part to the valuable support and instruction provided by Proving Grounds Jiu-Jitsu.
This seminar was the first of many planned in collaboration with Proving Grounds Jiu-Jitsu. We thank Coach Smith for his instruction and all attendees for their active participation.
Stay tuned for more exciting Jiu-Jitsu events at DNA! We are committed to providing our members with the highest level of instruction and opportunities to grow and excel in this incredible martial art.
